Nope...this is NOT the Gotcha Page!

This is to help all the people who don't go to church and all the church people understand more of what we are thinking.

Let’s say this as clearly as we can:
There is not one verse in the whole Bible telling Christians to invite people to go to their Church. There are scores of verses telling Christ followers to go invite people to faith in Jesus. It is not a sin to invite someone to Church, but not inviting people to Jesus is probably our greatest sin.

Now to be sure the people who screwed this up are the pastors. Yep. They are the ones who told you to invite people to come to Church. The thinking goes like this. Pastors go to seminary to learn all about God. They are the ones best suited to tell people about Jesus. Regular people, called “the laity”, don’t really know how to share their faith, or don’t want to. And many are deeply worried about a Christian saying the wrong thing to a nonchristian. So its best if people who have been through proper training do the talking. So the Pastors gave Christians an easier task – just get them to come to Church and we will do the work of getting them to Jesus.

But Jesus told about 120 witnesses to His resurrection (Acts 1:8,15) that the Holy Spirit would “come upon them and they would be His witnesses” throughout the whole world. And let’s not forget all that, “Go into all the world and make disciples…” talk (Mt. 28:19). That’s not a command delivered to seminary students or pastors. That mission was delivered to every single believer. And no pastor has the authority to remake the mission into church invitations. That may grow big churches, but its not the most important thing – introducing people to the God who created them. No matter how big a church is, if it is built on the back of invitations to church and not invitations to Jesus – then that church is failing in the mission it was assigned by God Himself. The facts support this – In America and Europe Christian faith is shrinking. But in China, Cuba, and India, etc. Christian faith is exploding. One huge difference…one group’s strategy is invitations to Church and the other is invitations to Jesus.

Jesus never ever one time told us to build big churches. Never. Ever. Paul didn’t tell us to do it. Not Peter, not James, John or even the masked Hebrews writer. They talk about the Church a lot, but never how to get people to come to it.

Why?

Ever wonder why there is only one “go to church” verse that preachers hold on to for dear life? Its Hebrews 10:25, “do not neglect to meet together as is the habit of some”. But that is not a command for people who don’t go to church. Its only a command given to those who do.

Church attendance was not the goal or mission of the early Church.
Church attendance was not the goal or command of God.
Church attendance is simply one of many natural outcomes of people who know Jesus. It is a product of the new birth and that seems to be the way the New Testament treats it. When a person is born into this world, we don’t have to tell them to breathe, it is the natural result of being born. So it seems the New Testament Christians assumed that people gathering to grow together in Christ would be natural. And certainly, like breathing, assembling together as the Church is critical. So this is not a “church bashing” site. We are deeply committed to church, just like we are committed to breathing, but that’s not why we exist.

Of course if someone comes to faith we will share with them the opportunity to gather with other believers to worship and encourage one another. And yes, we would gladly receive them at our gatherings even if they have not come to faith yet.

From Acts to Revelation the writers are constantly talking about the Church – its government, its mission, its gifts, its power, its conduct…
But they never talk about getting anyone to go there. In fact Acts says that they were so different that “no one dared associate with them”. Church attendance is an assumed practice, not a commanded one.

And now we understand why so many people are being turned off to the Church. We just talk about breathing! But we are missing real life.

So we are sorry. VERY SORRY. So sorry we created this site to let everyone know that
we quit.
We quit inviting people to church. Its not the Gospel anyway.
The rest of this site, should you continue on, will tell you about Jesus. There is a lot you may not know. And from our experience, so much you really need to know. We will also tell you things about Jesus that many won’t tell you. OOOHHHHH.

So stick around and hang out with Jesus. We will even tell you how to have a personal relationship with Him.
